Serving the community through charitable efforts, needed programming or skills development is a central theme for many Atlanta nonprofits. Finding new ways to add value through programming and even “one on one” interactions is important. While the delivery of services is essential, so is the acquisition and management of the funding needed to sustain operations. Management needs to spend time and attention on advertising the organization’s efforts to secure important donations and other funding to keep programs on-track and delivering value. A key challenge that many nonprofit executives face is in financial reporting. It’s a given that every organization has to file a Form 990, but what about other trends, issues, and regulations impacting nonprofits? How can executives get the information needed to stay updated on the latest issues impacting their organization?
Wilson Lewis has the solution to this puzzle. The firm will be hosting a free lunch and learn on September 27, 2019, from 11:00am -1:30pm, to be held at the Georgia Center for Nonprofits. The presentation, Understanding Your Organization’s Financial Statements, has been custom-tailored to give executives foundational knowledge on financial reporting, which includes how to assess fiscal fitness through overall strategic planning. There is no cost for the event and lunch will be provided during the session.
Participants are encouraged to bring questions as the goal of the session is to empower executives through targeted education. Important topics such as the breakdown of the financial statement, differences between accrual and cash basis accounting, restricted and unrestricted funds and more will be discussed. There will also be time allocated to reviewing important financial relationships, trends, and ratios which reveal the financial position of an organization.
